Arabians and More is so very proud to be participating in the Thoroughbred Makeover this fall at the Kentucky Horse Park. As most of you know this breed was what sparked our trainer Catie’s true love of horses. From her first hunter horse Gizmo to her heart horse Cheerio they have always had a very special place in her life.

We are delighted to introduce our 2018 Makeover horse Samendra. His name means ‘Winner of Wars’, with that in mind we have decided to give him the barn name of Hero.

When Hero competes this fall he will be 10 years old, a simply amazing age for an active racehorse. He took his last turn around the track in January 2018 and ended a storied 8 year long racing career of 75 starts with over $150,000 earned.

He came to be a part of the Arabians and More family on Sunday January 28th. He is enjoying a well deserved week off to settle in and will then begin preparing to compete as a Competitive Trail horse at the Makeover. Long term we will welcome Hero as a phenomenal addition to our lesson program.

February saw Hero settle into the retired life. He spent some time learning to be a horse and learning how to interact in a herd. He also had his race shoes removed to get ready to start his new career under saddle.

In March Hero started back under saddle and quickly settled into the routine around the ranch. He took quickly to work both in and out of the arena. We couldn’t be more proud.

In April Hero made a very important discovery….children! He’s now officially part of the Arabians and More lesson crew and becoming more popular by the day.

In May and June we started a new trend in addition to welcoming 6 year old OTTB Confess Your Sins whom we now call Preacher and 20 year old OTTB Fully a King to our herd we had two clients also bring on OTTBs of their own. Lori adopted Eddie Would Go ( Eddie) and Jackie adopted March Badness (Cullie) from Echo Canyon Equine Rescue.

6- 28-18 Hero has officially been with us for 5 months. In that time he has become a huge part of our lesson program! from beginners to the ever fun “Saturday Night Jumper Girls” lesson Hero has stepped up to every challenge. We cannot be more proud of him.

We’d like to invite everyone to follow Hero’s journey as we take you through the transformation from racehorse to riding horse. Please check back here often for updates. You can also follow Hero on Facebook by clicking here.
